My client seeks a part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist reponsible jointly to the hospital Manager and the Clinical Services Manager.
You will contribute to the work of the Eating Disorder and Mental Health Service by conducting individual and group work with patients
• To ensure the hospitals vision of nursing practice informs education development plans.
• To provide support and guidance promoting theory to practice application throughout the Unit.
• To maintain a clinical nursing caseload and act as a nursing model for clinical nursing matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Clinical Practitioner Role: To work closely with the ward charge nurse within the Unit with regards to the following:
1.1 Ensure the standards of care are maintained and be aware of the need to implement change.
1.2 Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
1.3 Maintain and develop efficient delivery of nursing care.
1.4 Advise the Clinical Services Manager in accordance with changes in health and care needs of patients.
1.5 To assist in the development of audit systems.
1.6 To provide supervision for junior staff.
Provide keyworker input for patients on Wedgwood Unit.
1.7 Develop and maintain the clinical learning environment, improving educational resources.
1.8 Providing teaching input for the service.
1.9 Develop and refine the Clinical Nurse Specialist role, sharing the information in-house, locally and nationally.
1.10 Promote the clinical specialty of adolescent eating disorder psychiatry in-house, locally and nationally.
1.11 Plan and implement learning programmes with nursing staff.
1.12 Co-ordinate mentorship within the service and evaluate the effectiveness.
1.13 Participate in action research within the service.
1.14 Maintain own professional and educational development.
1.15 Assist service manager in appraisal of staff, giving educational advice.
1.16 Maintain PREP requirements for unit nursing staff.
2. Training and Education
2.1 Identify training needs of needs of nursing staff and advise Clinical
Services Manager.
2.2 To be proactive in assessing staff requirements related to clinical needs.
2.3 The provision of individualised education programmes for staff which
give clear career pathways.
2.4 The development and implementation of care pathways and supportive short education workshops for nursing
2.5 Promoting reflective practice.
2.6 Promoting evidence-based practice.
2.7 Implementing and evaluating the nurse model across the service.
2.8 Teaching outside agencies.
2.9 Coordination of seminars and conferences.
2.10 Introduction of pre and post-registration students to the service.
3. Management
To act down and cover the duties of the ward charge nurses as required.
To assist in the deployment and the development of staff.
Ensure the policies and procedures are implemented.
Maintain an environment that complies with the Health and Safety
Requirements of staff, patients and visitors.
To uphold the UKCC code of professional conduct.
